Just a girl and her nervous dog
Hi Dog started with my own dog, Winter. He is a rescue with a few behavioural needs. He can be reactive around other dogs and does not enjoy strangers touching him. I tried so many lead covers to help communicate his needs, but none of them really worked. They either slipped around, flapped about, or were not instantly visible or clear.
As a designer, I knew there had to be a better way. I set out to create a product that is simple, functional, and effective. Hi Dog lead banners are made with strong hook-and-loop so they stay securely in place and do not slide or twist. They fit most types of leads and are easy to take off and swap between leads, which is ideal if, like me, you have more than one.
Each banner is designed to be instantly recognisable. The bold text runs vertically so it is easy to read at a glance, and a clear, universal icon is placed front and centre to make your dog’s needs obvious.
Why Hi Dog?
“Hi” is a simple greeting and a way to connect. That’s exactly what the banners do, helping dogs be seen, understood, and respected. It also nods to high visibility, which is at the heart of how the product works.
Hi Dog is about making walks easier, safer, and less stressful for dogs like Winter and for the people who love them.
